Abstract: The paper proposes a new approach for detecting
alive human beings in devastating environments using a
low cost semi-autonomous robot. The proposed alive human
body detection system uses a specific set of sensors that
gives information about the presence of human in a stable
or movement condition and in alive or expired condition
and a low quality camera to acquire a video scene of the
debris environment. Having detected an obstacle or alive
human body, the set of sensors trigger the camera to show
live scene. The video is then displayed on a PC or a laptop
at base station and processed at lab. The alive human
detection system proposed in this paper is highly reliable as
it is managed individually or in a group. The data and
information required to be acquired and processed for
rescue operation are done using WI-FI. So, it is very cost
effective and faster to be applied in real-time operating
environment.

INTRODUCTION
Due to technological development, information about
different natural disaster can be predicted earlier. Now days,
natural disasters keep happening frequently because people
are disrupting the natural balance. Police, fire service and
paramedics are being deployed to minimize the loss of life
and property. Sometimes the rescue team cannot reach many
parts of the affected area due to the inability to search for
the live person in the debris. To reduce losses of lives and for
getting accurate information of a situation, a robotic system
can be used and modified.
A robot is a reprogrammable, multifunctional manipulator
designed to move materials, parts, tools or specialized
devices through variable programmed motions for the
performance of a variety of tasks. Basically a robot consists
of a mechanical structure, such as a wheeled platform, arm,
or other construction, capable of interacting with its
environment. Sensors to sense the environment and give
useful feedback to the device. Systems to process sensory
input in the context of the current situation and instruct
device to perform actions in response to the situation.
Surveillance robot is to recognize and detect motion
automatically around a robot's environment. The robot design
has been partitioned into sensor, control, and planning
subsystems. Robotic surveillance appliance is built on a
moving platform designed for surveillance and security tasks.
This robot can be operated in “remote eyes” or “automatic
trip” modes. This means it can be steered remotely by a
human watchman as a moving surveillance camera or it can
drive autonomously along an undefined route, detecting all
Inconsistencies in the video input. Secret surveillance in
tightly constrained spaces is demanded in many military and
civilian activities, such as cave-in enemy raids and indoor
hostage rescue missions.

Robots are used to do jobs that could be done by humans.
However, there are many reasons why robots are better than
humans in performing certain tasks.
Speed: Robot may be used because they are FASTER than
people at carrying out tasks. This is because a robot is really a
mechanism which is controlled by a computer.
EXISTING SYSTEM
Semi autonomous robot consists of gas sensor, PIR sensor ,
RF transceiver and receiver, ultrasonic sensor and IP camera.
The controller consists of a joystick which is used to drive
the robot in a controlled way. It detects the human presence
inside the affected area and gives the result about alive or
expired condition. It has ARDUINO MEGA controller board
and it costs high.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
Rescue robot consist of gas sensor, accelerometer,
temperature sensor, moisture sensor, camera and node red
server. A keyboard, which acts a remote control used to drive
the robot in a controlled way.DS18B20 Temperature sensor
sense the temperature of human body and the raspberry pi
camera shows the body motion .Using putty software a static
IP address is created and output is displayed in the webpage
by internet connection or Wi-Fi.
HARDWARE MODULE
Arduino
Arduino is an open source computer hardware that designs
and manufactures single-board micro
controllers and microcontroller kits for building digital
devices and interactive objects that can sense and control
objects in the physical world. Arduino board designs use a
variety of microprocessors and controllers. The boards are
equipped with sets of digital and analog input/output (I/O)
pins that may be interfaced to various expansion boards
(shields) and other circuitsSensor produces thermistors
capable of operating over the temperature range of -100° to
over +600° Fahrenheit. Because of their very predictable
characteristics and their excellent long term stability,
thermistors are generally
accepted to be the most advantageous sensor for many
applications including temperature measurement and control

RASPBERRY PI3
The Raspberry Pi is a low cost, credit-card sized computer
that plugs into a computer monitor or TV, and uses a standard
keyboard and mouse. It is a capable little device that enables
people of all ages to explore computing, and to learn how to
program in languages like Scratch and Python
THERMISTOR
Thermistors are thermally sensitive resistors whose prime
function is to exhibit a large, predictable and precise change
in electrical resistance when subjected to a corresponding
change in body temperature. Negative Temperature
Coefficient (NTC) thermistors exhibit a decrease in electrical
resistance when subjected to an increase in body temperature
and Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) thermistors
exhibit an increase in electrical resistance when subjected to
an increase in body temperature. U.S. Sensor produces
thermistors capable of operating over the temperature range
of -100° to over +600° Fahrenheit. Because of their very
predictable characteristics and their excellent long term
stability, thermistors are generally accepted to be the most
advantageous sensor for many applications including
temperature measurement and control.
GAS SENSOR(MQ5)
A gas sensor is a device which detects the presence of gas in
an area. This sensor interacts with a gas to measure its
concentration. Each gas has a unique breakdown voltage i.e.
the electric field at which it is ionized. Sensor identifies gases
by measuring these voltages. The concentration of the gas
can be determined by measuring the current discharge in the
device. The MQ5 gas sensor detects the presence of various
gases such as hydrogen, carbon monoxide, methane and LPG
ranging from 100ppm to 3000ppm.
.
TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY SENSOR (DHT11)
The DHT11 is a basic ,ultra low-cost digital
temperature and humidity sensor. It measures the humidity
and temperature of the surrounding in the affected
area.DHT11 digital temperature and humidity sensor is a
composite Sensor contains a calibrated digital signal output
of the temperature and humidity.
