Harmony between will and self-awareness

I. Khayriev

Samarkand State University

Annotation.Providing self-awareness in a person is not formed

appropriately, the person cannot perform the desired functions properly, and if the

volitional efforts are not directed to the targeted object, self-awareness does not

succeed.

Key words. Definitions, cognitive laws, mechanisms, motive, goal, interest,

regulating, individuality, subjectivity, instance (direct closeness), substantiality

(internal essence), conceptual approach, contradictions.

The relationship between self-awareness and will in psychology is in the

focus of psychologists in both the 20thand 21st centuries. Because both general

psychological concepts necessitate one another, and mutual relations are carried

out reciprocally. It should be noted that both definitions are directly linked to the

mind (consciousness), and as a result of interaction they are improved during

activities, behavior, and treatment. The person’s attitude towards the

incomprehensive (not yetstudied) phenomenon is a complex psychological reality,

and it requires the concentration on the object, cognitive laws that help to select

practical actions to find a solution to the problem, mechanisms, and the necessary

conditions.

In psychology, there are two different approaches to interpreting the scientific

essence of self-awareness, which vary greatly when compared to each other.

According to the first approach, self-awareness is the mind that has changed its

course. That is why it is no different from that of a person's mind, of course. This

widely disseminated theory has been studied by L.S.Vigotski, A.N. Leontiev,

E.V. Shorokhova, I.I. Chesnakova, V.V.Stolin and researched by their apprentices.

The founder of the second approach to this question was S.L. Rubinstein. This

approach has been later developed by his student K.A. Abulkhanova - Slavskaya in

her research. In Rubinstein's opinion, mind (consciousness) and self-awareness are

one of the characteristics of a person who is physically real and possesses rights,

and they are spiritual processes that ensure one’s daily life and activity as a

“weapon” (5: p. 79).Rubinstein's teachings provide adequate information on the

psychological nature of self-awareness. Studying the problem based on the

educational approach will help to reveal its scientific-theoretical and practical

aspects.

In the first approach, the main reason for self-awareness, is the disparity of

relationship between man and society. A person is obliged to adhere to the

principles and orders of the social environment while living in a society. On the

basis of these, a person guides his actions, behavior, and interpersonal

relationships. Controlling one's conduct, activity, and attitude means managing the

needs, desire, motive, tendency, purpose, and interests as well, which help them

(conduct, activity, attitude) to evolve. Self-awareness and regulating of such

content necessitate the management of the expression (reflection) and relationship

of the need in the mind. The main reason for the appearance of incident as well as

the object of direction is the mind. Internal stability of the mind forms internal

consistency with stability. In the interpretation of these doctrines, a great deal of

attention is given to the data acquired through the content of the internal stability

of mind. When such information is acquired by the person, they are confronted

because of the different content. In order to ensure mutuality, the individual

addresses the social consciousness and thus eliminates the contradiction between

the meanings. That is why, L. Vigotskii says that self-awareness is expressed as a

process of unity between different meanings and as a perceived mind

(consciousness) (3: p. 123). According to A. Leontiev, the contradiction between

the essence and content of individual mind is the reason for self-awareness (4: - p.

271). V.V.Stolin cites that in the basis of self-awareness lies the contradiction

among the different meanings of "I" (7: p. 67). B. Ananev argues that the element

of evolvement of self-awareness involves in itself personal attributes of an

individual, subjectivity of the activity, the uncertainty and heterochromia towards

the formation of personality (2: p. 168). In his opinion, self-awareness coordinates

these three attributes, and thus ensures the individuality (identity) of the mind.

In the first approach, self-awareness becomes an independent subject that

denotes and governs behavior and relationships. As a result, the person moves

away from the center of research, which is replaced by the mind and self- awareness. Such understanding and interpretation of self-awareness does not make

it possible to fully illuminate its psychological essence. Perhaps it may lead to

inappropriate conclusion and a hasty decision.

S. Rubinstein, the founderof the second approach, describes the living

conditions of people as the objective conditions (terms) of psychological activity

(5: p. 184). When it comes to the conditions for the demonstration, the researcher

claims that it is necessary to distinguish between the general conditions of

manifestation (of a person) and the special condition of this perception. In order to

determine a specific condition that promotes self-realization, it is requiredto clarify

the subject, to find a solution based on appropriate guidelines and intelligent

methods.

According to psychological data, in order to understand (realize) oneself, a

person must be the subject of the same self-awareness. The person must have

psychological circumstances, such as instinct and aspiration towards self- awareness. In this case it is permissible to determine when and how and in what

circumstances the similar mental conditions are present. Whether such an issue can

be solved is of particular scientific and theoretical significance in studying self- awareness.

Analysis of psychological resources shows that one of the most important

conditions of S. Rubinstein's research is to clarify the subject of self-awareness (6:

79 p.). Now, to analyze the content of the subject, we shall be examining

K. Abulkhanova-Slavskaya'snew ideas about the subject. The researcher believes

that subjectivity is not of instance (lat. instantia - direct closeness)or of substance

(lat. substantia - internal essence) that lies in one or another spiritual activity of a

person, but it is a quality of organizational state. This organizational state leads to a

new phase of daily life, development. In this case, subjectivity is simply a state of

human perfection and a new way of life. When a person is called a subject of self- awareness, we understand this like a specific quality that gives possibility and

condition for determining his self, his “I”. In the evaluation of this, the reason, aim

and limits of self-awareness can be maintained. The essence (subjectivity) of the

person in this sense exists as internal necessity, motive, demand, aspiration

towards self-awareness, and its occurrence is determined by the necessity for a

person to be a social subject. Subjectivity combines the role and place of the

individual in the system of social relations.

A clear historical epoch is reflected in subjectivity, so its internal essence and

appearance, that is, its attributes are perfectly embodied. In this sense, when

understanding the historicity of self-awareness, not only the historicity of the

attributes that belong to self-awareness, but also the historicity of the subject

should be considered. A person's perception of himself / herself based on inner

point of view and aspiration has ethnic and national characteristics. As such, it is of

social and historic significance to relate a person to self-awareness subject. The
