ABSTRACT
Due to global warming, a change in the climate has been observed from
last few years. The nature of climate is changing very rapidly which s
causing a loss of huge quantity of crops in the country. Most of the Indian
farmers are facing economic crisis due to loss of their crops as a
consequence of changing climate.
Due to change in climate, heavy rain falls and snowfalls are observed in
some parts of the country which destroy most of the crops yielded. In
India, there are many villages of Southern and Western regions where
droughts are occurred frequently due to change in climate. Also, due to the
occurrence of the natural disasters, the crops are destroyed. The current
paper highlights the impact of climate on the crops in India.

INTRODUCTION
The occurrence of the unseasoned raining has also increased in recent
years due to external disturbance in the climate. In most of the cases,
these unseasoned rainfalls are observed at the time when most of the
crops are ready to cut down. This is very harsh full for the farmers when
heavy unseasoned rainfall come at the time of cutting down of the crop
as all the hard work done by the farmers get vanished.
There are a number of factors which are responsible for this change in
the behavior of the climate. The most important factor is found to be
global warming which is responsible for the rise in the temperature of the
earth. This increase in the temperature is causing change in the climate.
To some extent, we, the people are also responsible for this situation as
the activities of deforestation are going on at a large scale throughout the
country as a result, a number of trees are cutting down for the sake of
the development but, if we look beyond this then we find that this
deforestation is leading to the damaging of the climate as the nature of
the climate is changing year by year rapidly.
Most of the farmers are paying heavy prices for this change in climate as
their crops are damaging almost every year due to natural disasters. In
some parts of the country, the level of the ground water is decreasing due

to climate change and hence, the fertility of the soil is also decreasing
which is responsible for the lower production of the crops.
The Figure 1 depicts that if the trend of changing climate continues like
this then in the coming years the lowest temperature percentage needed
for the Rabi crops would move up to 4.14 from 1.08. Similarly, the
highest increase in temperature percentage would jump to 4.62 from
1.54 in case of Rabi crops.

Figure 1 also suggests that due to this climate change scenario, the
percentage of the change in the lowest temperature required for the
Kharif crops would jump to 2.91 from 0.87 in the year 2080. Also,
