Abstract

The definition of Education according to Swami Vivekananda, ‘Education is the manifestation of divine perfection already exists in man’. Vivekananda’s Spiritual thought is quite similar to his definition of Education. The highest aim of Education is to achieve fullness of perfection. Vivekananda told us Self-realization, Self-thought, Self-judgment, Self-control, Self-motivation, Self-analysis, Self-development, Self-enthusiasm, Self-dependent and Self-liberation etc. only came from not only true Education but also Spiritual Education. The concept of his Spiritual Education as well as Spiritual thought came from the knowledge of “The Veda”, “The Upanishad” and “The Gita”. According to his opinion mental development, man making Education and national growth and development and most important fearless well-developed citizen are possible only through the study of Spiritual Education. Now if we look into the present scenario of our Education system some huge drawbacks can be found. We have to emphasis those problems regarding our present Education scenario. Our (Indian) Education system gives to emphasis “makeover”. This Education system is too much information oriented rather little scope for creativity, inventions and Self-learning. The growing incidence of crimes and suicides committed by juveniles and the youth speaks volumes of the deficiencies of our training system just because of lack of Spiritual Education .It is crystal clear that there is a need to input Swamiji’s Spiritual thoughts in present Educational scenario as we can overcome many big problems which the helps of his Spiritual ideas and thoughts. So, we think there is a relevant point in Swami Vivekananda ‘s Spiritual thoughts and ideas which must be followed and included in the curriculum and Education system in present Education scenario or system to get read of some lacunas, deficiencies of the Education systems.
