Abstract

Women are an essential part of the Indian economy, constitute 50 per cent of the total population and contribute significantly to family survival. Women in India continue to be relatively disadvantaged in terms of survival, health, nutrition, literacy and social status. Women do not have access to credit, training, housing and services, lack of education and decision-making positions are obstacles that prevent them from improving their living conditions and participating in development programs.
