Abstract
Education has always been recognized as aninfluential tool for empowering marginalized sectors of any society. In developing countries like India, where the fruits of economic growth are being harvested, it has also been observed that growth becomes comprehensive and reimbursement is shared by all. The literacy rate of women is considered one of the effective tools that can be used to take advantage of the benefits of the developed society for the female population and, in turn, to empower women in the country. Policies to get better the position of women in relation to men are desirable not only in terms of equity but also in terms of effectiveness.
