Abstract

Growth response of Tetrapleura teteraptera seedlings to forms of goat manure was carried-out at the screen house of Federal College of Forestry, Jericho, Ibadan to identify the effects of goat manure and the outstanding form of goat manure on the growth of the species seedlings. Three treatments were used, namely; Treatment A- Goat Manure Solid (GMS) as Control, Treatment B- Goat Manure Effluent (GME) and Treatment C- Goat Manure Sludge (GMSG). The experiment was laid in Completely Randomized Design with 12 seedlings per treatment and replicated twelve times. Growth parameters assessed were seedling height, seedling girth, number of leaves and number of branches. Data collected was analyzed using SPSS package. From the result obtained, Mean square showed that there was significant difference among all the Treatments A, B and C in the area of leaf production with Treatment B having the highest values in seedling height, number of leaves and number of branches with numerical values of 13.672, 61.781 and 8.491 respectively. Treatment B (GME) performed best among the three treatments considered on the growth of the species seedlings. It was concluded based on the result obtained from the research work that goat manure has effect on the growth of Tetrapleura teteraptera seedlings. And that, Treatment B, Goat Manure Effluent has outstanding effect on the species seedlings’ growth, and should then be recommended when considering goat manure as manure to be used in raising Tetrapleura teteraptera seedlings.
