Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to test alternative conceptualizations of the relationship between systems of human resource management (HRM) practices and organizational effectiveness. HRM is a series of integrated decisions that form the employment relationship their quality contributes to the ability of the organization and the employees to achieve their objectives. The authors describe a framework suggesting a complex relationship between HRM practices and organizational effectiveness, test this approach empirically in a small sample of Apollo Hospitals, and compare the results to those derived using other approaches prevalent in the strategic HRM literature.
