Abstract
Accommodation buildings, particularly hotel establishments present a real threat to the environment through their high-energy consumption. In Algeria, a large number of hotels were built during the last few years with a high percentage of these hotels were located in Mediterranean zone. This region is particularly exposed to a high level of humidity during summer and winter. Sustainable concepts particularly those related to passive strategies, seems to be a potential solution for the Algerian context.
The aim this article is to assess the impact of passive strategies for affordable energy efficient within hotels buildings in humid climate in Algeria.
Conclusions and recommendations are drawn to indicate how to make use of the best passive solution in order to reduce energy consumption in the future.
