Abstract
Purpose – This study is conducted to explore the saving and investment habit of rural households in Haryana. This study has focused on why rural households save the money, their pattern of saving in different alternative of investment. This study explores the guiding factors of saving and investment among rural households.
Design/ methodology/approach – For attainment of research objective and answer the research question, exploratory research design has been adopted. Data has collected from directly visited rural household site, mail survey through a questionnaire. For collection of data convenience sampling is used.
Findings – Findings of study shows that rural households saving and investment decisions mostly influence by friends and relative opinion. Study confirmed that around 71% rural households save and investment money for their children education and marriage and acquisition of residential house and property. Study also finds that very few percentage rural household aware about investment in securities.
