Abstract
A study was undertaken to evaluate the flow of Minor forest products (MFPs) in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh. MFPs are being collected in different forest areas of the district. The diversity, however, varies with availability and local knowledge, with communities gathering of the species available in the forest area. Significant quantities of MFPs are gathered in all the forest areas and the estimated value of MFPs realized per household fluctuates between Rs 3445/household in the evergreen zone and Rs 1233/household in the dry deciduous zone. Similarly, the financial value realized per hectare also varies across the four forest zones calculated and it ranged from Rs 634 in the dry deciduous zone to Rs 1801 in the evergreen zone, by means of Rs 1159/ha/yr. One third of the District consists of forest area Sal, Amla, Teak, Sarai and Shisham are the maximum trees found in this District. The flower of Mahua and Gulli provide edible oil. Mahua flower is mostly used for making wine by tribal people.
