Abstract

One of the major goals of education is to nurture critical thinking in children. Learning is a consequence of thinking and good thinking is not only a matter of skills but also a matter of dispositions. Disposition is nothing but the inclination or attitude to use the skill sets in appropriate situations. Several strategies have been used to nurture these dispositions in children like the thinking routine strategy, thinking based learning, questioning, etc. Among all the strategies, the thinking routine strategy is well researched and in vogue. This paper presents a review of the literature related to nurturing of thinking dispositions in young children.
