Abstract

There is a tremendous amount of studies and researches which were conducted on to investigate upon the matter of gender and wage gap; such an increasing number of empirical studies still cannot achieve a consensus. The major method to determine gender wage discrimination is this of Oaxaca & blinder (1973) which implies that gender wage disparity is caused by the difference between the characteristics of the human capital and to gender wage discrimination. Henceforth, based on the latter claim, any factor which cannot be quantified will account for as discrimination. Budig (2002) in a study across different sectors and industries, male advantage in terms of pay was persisting and significant across all types of organizations. Henceforth, the pay gap has persisted through time and there is a necessity to explore factors shaping the gap beyond the role and human capital characteristics.
