Abstract
From the past few decades Driver Assistance system has attracted the attention of the researchers in the context of safety and reduction in road accidents. Currently the biggest challenge is to detect the lane and boundaries of the road. The most convenient way to detect these boundaries and lanes of the road is Vision system built in the vehicles. Some of the lane detection techniques are presented in paper. For the real time Vehicular ad-hoc systems Lane recognition is now common. Lane detection needs to deal with the varying road conditions such as detection and localization of road boundaries, approximation of the upcoming geometry of the road and to determine undesired lane variations. This paper represents a new algorithm in which image filter plays a key role to give a better accuracy in comparison to other available methods. In the proposed method a Modified Hough transform technique is used to speed up the existing method.
