Abstract
SiC and B4C are the only carbides, that show complete covalent character. These compounds exhibit several useful properties that can be employed in laboratories and industries. They have exceptional mechanical properties, show inertness towards environment, and have semiconducting behaviour, to name a few. Hence, efforts have been made to synthesise these compounds. Several routes of synthesise have been employed for this purpose. Further, work can be done in this direction to improve the processes and applicability of these materials
