Abstract
Considering how essential oral communication skills are to students of engineering for sitting interviews, making presentations, taking part in seminars and conferences, and communicating with peers and superiors in office, the emphasis on improving oral communication skills has never been felt now as at any point in time since English became the de facto official language of India.
Keeping in mind the necessity of reaching out to every stratum of society, the socio economically deprived sections in particular, there have been moves to teach English in school at an early stage and degree colleges offering undergraduate courses in arts, social sciences and the sciences , have English on the curriculum to enable students to hone their spoken English.
