Abstract
Social dominance and oppression have continued to be significant issues of concern in India since the existence of human beings. Godaan paints a striking portrait of Indian society. Characters from the upper, middle, and lower classes are all represented in the novel. The present study illuminates the manifestation of violence resulting from the intersection of feudalistic practices governing the lower castes and capitalist adaptations characterising the higher castes in Godaan.
