Abstract
Travancore, one of the oldest princely states of India, is indisputably the most scenic and attractive portions of India. Travancore owns both natural and man-made resources such as temples, churches, mosques, palaces, forts, memorials and other monuments. The temple is a large structure with mandapams with gorgeous and unique works of arts and sculpture. The worshiping places forms the core of social life in the country. They integrate the various segments of the society from diversity. From the period of Cholas, temples became the very boss of the rural and urban life in all aspects such as religious, cultural, social, economic, moral and educational. They are the storehouse of arts, architectural and cultural heritages. The present study focusses certain religious heritage resources in South Travancore.
