Abstract
The paper describes stakeholder and the need for their identification in ensuring sustainable community development. The advantage of stakeholder identification is that it guarantees success in development activities. These could be achieved through following a systematic process and procedure in identifying and selecting all and sundry key actors that will help in achieving the programme objectives at the grassroot level in our communities. It also examined the extend to which stakeholder identification assist greatly in programm planning and implementation the paper further highlighted major steps in identification and analysis of stakeholder in community development. it also contends that shrewd utilization of stakeholder identification can help outline issues that are resolvable in manners that are actually plausible and politically satisfactory and that advance the benefit of all and finally the paper recommended that stakeholders should be in driving seat through giving them the adequate control of the development process, resources management and decision making.
