Abstract

The given paper tends to explore the contributions and complications produced by the development of queer theory, with reference to our understanding of gender. The practical example of the application of queerness is given through Rita Mae Brown’s novel Rubyfruit Jungle. The aim is to analyze and thus demonstrate the ways in which queer theory not only influences but also gives the possibility to change and rethink how to approach the concept of gender by introducing a wide range of implications that have been altogether excluded by the previous gender discourse.
