Abstract
There has been a perception for long that competition is the opposite of cooperation but the truth is that conflict is the opposite of cooperation. Present structure of federal government is incapable to deal effectively with socioeconomic challenges and strengthening national unity. So there is need to develop the spirit of competitive federalism among states. The paper presents a research on the present situation of federal scenario in India and a comparative analysis of various states and their approach to strengthen competitive-cooperative federalism. Competitive federalism is not yet embraced by every state.
