Abstract
Imagery can be a robust aid in memory. It has wide application ranging from educational psychology, clinical psychology, counselling psychology, cognitive psychology, sports psychology, forensic psychology… The qualities of imagery has been chronicled with sound empirical findings by researchers like Paivio (1965), Brooks (1968), Kosslyn (1973), Shephard and Metzler (1971), Cooper (1975)and so on. Amongst the other features most studies unanimously assert the phenomenon of imagery as picture-like quality. The current study too was conducted to support the proposition that images are picture-like by comparing visual encoding with verbal encoding.
