Abstract
The world is divided into different nations, societies and cultures but the subjugation of women in patriarchal set up is somewhat similar across boundaries. Many writers and social activists in last two centuries have made concerted efforts to eradicate this type of inequality. One among them is Indira Goswami. Her works deals with plethora of issues that North East region of India is facing. This paper is based on the study of her novel The Moth Eaten Howdah of Tusker and delves deep into culture and society where women are infringed beyond resilience due to the curse of widowhood. It also shows how class and caste differences even aggravate the sufferings of an individual.
