Abstract
Landslides have been the harbingers of death and destruction in the hilly areas. They also impact the hilly people economically. The terrain in mountainous regions typically comprises of high energy with an instability and variability of the masses. Although landslide may look similar to other mass movement phenomenon but what differentiates it is that in the case of a landslide, movement of the land mass happens because of a discrete failure surface. This internally unreformed plane often slides the landmass and divides the landmass. Thereafter, this starts a further movement which includes the flow of element.
