Abstract
English language proficiency among secondary school students in India is a crucial factor influencing academic success, higher education opportunities, and future career prospects. This review paper synthesizes existing literature on the factors affecting English language proficiency specifically among Indian secondary school students. Key themes explored include educational policies, socio-economic influences, teaching methodologies, assessment practices, and the impact of digital technologies on language learning outcomes.
