Abstract

This paper discusses the position of middle-class women in Victorian Britain and how middle-class women organized their own society without the intrusion of men.

This article shows that women could have their own voices in a patriarchal society and the ideological position of women as merely the angel in the house was challenged. It indicates that middle-class women subverted the traditional Victorian views on the position of women.
